  • Did you know that church-goers everywhere find that they quickly gravitate to the same seats week after week? We all like sameness and in fact most people come to church for a predictable experience. Unfortunately this attitude sometimes becomes rigid and inhospitable, especially when some innocent visitor sits in OUR seat. Consider what that must feel like to them and be graciously welcoming. You may be encountering an angel or even Jesus himself in the form of this stranger. You wouldn’t want tell Jesus that he’s in YOUR SEAT. Consider moving around to give yourself a fresh view of our worship. Why not?

  • Did you know that in the Eastern Christian tradition, they abstain from meat almost every Wednesday and Friday? During Lent they do not eat meat at all. Part way through the season they give up dairy products and later even oil until they are down to a diet that is basically “Vegan”? That makes the feasting of Easter even more joyful. Also, when they say their prayers during Lent, the Eastern Christians prostrate their bodies over and over again. For them it’s quite physical, this Lenten observance. How will you make more space in your life this Lent?
